What We Believe

What we believe about God, the Father

We believe there is one true, all-powerful, all-knowing, ever-present, and living God, the Father almighty, Creator of heaven and earth. He is the first person of the Holy Trinity.

What we believe about Jesus Christ

We believe in Jesus Christ as the Son of God. He is the second person of the Trinity. We believe Him to be fully God and fully man. He was conceived under the power of the Holy Spirit and born of the virgin Mary. He lived a sinless life, was crucified, died, and was buried. On the third day, he rose again from the dead. He ascended to heaven and is seated at the right hand of God, the Father. From there, He will return as King of Kings and Lord of Lords to end all evil- making all things new. He will come again and will be the Judge of all.

What we believe about the Holy Spirit

We believe that the Holy Spirit, the third person of the Trinity, is a Divine Person, eternal, underived, possessing all the divine attributes, and coequal with the Father and the Son. Jesus describes Him as the Advocate who will never leave the Child of God. “He leads to all Truth. He comes from the Father, testifies of Jesus, and convicts the world of sin, God’s righteousness, and the coming judgment.” The Holy Spirit transforms and empowers believers, equipping them for godly living. Not only this, but He indwells, seals, and engifts believers.

What we believe about the Bible

We believe the 39 books of the Old Testament and 27 books of the New Testament to be inspired by God and inerrant in the original manuscripts. Written by human authors, under the leadership of the Holy Spirit, The Bible itself is the sole and final source of all we believe. It is not to be revered as God or equal to any person of the Godhead but to be revered as the living Word of God. The Holy Spirit works with the Word of God to direct believers. Neither the Holy Spirit nor the Word of God will oppose one another.

What we believe about man

We believe God wonderfully creates each person, male and female, in His image. These two distinct genders are complementary, and together, they reflect the image of God. We teach that man was created good but willingly sinned against God. Therefore, all humanity is fallen, spiritually lost, and under condemnation. Thus, man needs a Savior.

What we believe about salvation

We teach that Christ came to reconcile creation back to its Creator. He did this by living a sinless life and dying in our place. Christ was the perfect substitute; only His sacrifice can make man right before God. God’s Grace will save whoever calls upon the Lord’s Name in faith. At this point, the Holy Spirit indwells the believer and secures them for eternity. This is accomplished by God and not by the effort of man.

What we believe about ordinances

We teach that one publicly expresses the work of Christ in their life through water baptism. It is a declaration of and identification with Christ in His death, burial, and resurrection. This is the first step of obedience in the life of a believer.

The Lord’s Supper is the commemoration by believers of Christ’s death until He comes and should be preceded by a careful self-examination. We invite all believers to participate in communion weekly.

What we believe about the Church

Upon accepting the Lord Jesus Christ as Savior, all believers become part of His body- the Church. There is one universal Church composed of all true believers. The Church is the Bride of Christ. The Scriptures command believers to gather to devote themselves to worship, prayer, teaching from the Word, observance of the ordinances (baptism and communion), fellowship, and service. Things must be done orderly when we gather to glorify God.

As the body of Christ, we are called to fulfill the Command of Jesus known as the Great Commission, to love God holistically, and to love our neighbor as ourselves.

What we believe about death and eternity

The consequence of sin is death: everyone is born spiritually dead, and everyone will physically die. After this, all will stand before God. Those who have confessed faith in Christ will enter into rest and eternal fellowship with God. Those who have not put their trust in Christ will be eternally separated from God.
