GRACE CHURCH LACENTER

CONNECTING PEOPLE TO CHRIST AND TO EACH OTHER

From Our Pastor

You Have a Place in Grace!

Welcome to Grace Church!  What is difficult to find today is a church where you “fit in”.  It can be a difficult process, going from church to church and evaluating whether each church might feel more like a home or family.  The truth about family is that we are very different people, who carry the same last name.  You do not have the attitude of your siblings.  You are different than your parents.  You do not always look like your aunts, uncles or cousins. You have different personalities, different humors, different ideas and opinions.  Even though there are many differences in family you all have one thing in common; you are family, and you love each other, regardless.

Since my family and I have started at Grace Church, I have come to realize that family is what best describes the people who attend here.  They are all different.  Within the family we have all kinds of people, from differing points of view, different histories, and different experiences but in the end, and perhaps the most important thing, we all have the Love of Christ Jesus.  It doesn’t matter who you are, you will be welcomed to join the family in our journey toward the transformational power of Christ in our lives and in the lives of our community.

Will you come and become part of our family?  We’ll keep a seat open.

Grace and Truth,

John J. Carroll

Celebrations

It’s said that music soothes the savage beast.  At Grace Church, we may not always be quiet during worship, and sometimes it may not even seem all that soothing, but every guitar chord, every piano key, and every drum solo is a prayer sent directly to heaven from a group of folks who don’t fit inside a traditional box.

Worship is our life, and at 10:00 on Sunday mornings, we come together for a chance to worship together.  We really do celebrate when we get together because life is so different once grace and forgiveness fill up the holes once occupied by guilt, fear, and self-hate.

We do have a dress code, though…”Wear some.”  That’s it.  So, don’t worry about what you wear, because we’re not going to, and neither does the God who we come together to adore.

We’re pretty laid back.

We enjoy being together and it shows on Sunday morning.

We know how it feels to be loved through our own mess.

We can’t wait for you to be part of what’s going on here.

We have a place for you.

Celebrate Recovery

God never wastes a hurt. Celebrate Recovery meets at 7:00 on Thursday nights for two hours.  The first hour is worship with each week rotating between one of the 26 lessons and a testimony about the previous week’s lesson.  The second hour is open share small groups,

where we come together for mutual support and accountability.  In that small group we have the opportunity to share our struggles with others who may have been through similar circumstances.

This is a Christ centered, Twelve step program where we step out of denial about the struggles in our lives, and into a life filled with grace, forgiveness, and healing. We’re all a little messed up.  The question is, how messed up are we, and are we ready to not be anymore.

What do people enjoy about the church?

We don’t have an “anything goes” mindset, but when you come through our doors you will be loved as Christ loved, you won’t be judged, and you’ll realize that we have all messed up, too.  Grace is not just the name on the sign out front; it’s how we do life together.

Each Sunday, you’ll find business people worshipping next to former addicts.  You’ll find shorts and flip flops sitting beside sport coats.  We have people with many years of life experience worshipping alongside millennials.  Our worship celebrations are wide open, fast paced, and different from what you may find in other places, but we also cherish our quiet, slower times as well.  If you’re looking for a good place to take a nap during church, this probably isn’t it.

Grace is more than Sunday morning worship, though.  It’s every day.  Most days of the week there is something going on, from worship, prayer times, small groups, youth, mission opportunities, meals, and countless other opportunities to get your hands dirty for Jesus.
